Buon giorno mi amici
I cannot believe how time is flying here. It has been 10 days and I thank you for being patient and waiting for my next post. Yesterday was the last day of school and a day full of celebrations which started off with a potluck lunch and then quickly we found ourselves at Highbar till two in the morning. Needless to say I am moving rather slowly today. Anyhow I thought I would tell you a story before I head to the market this morning and then I promise I will post some additional photos and information later this evening.
For any of you who have worked with the wonderful medium of charcoal this one is for you. Charcoal is very tricky to lay on paper as it tends to fall off the paper, however, students in our school have mastered the art of drawing with charcoal. My dear friend Miss C. had worked on her cast charcoal drawing for a semester and a half. It is absolutely stunning. The background is beautiful and the cast itself is a small torso of a child...if I can find a pic I will add it to the post. Anyhow in order to preserve the drawing and ensure the charcoal remains intact while transporting it is highly recommended that one sprays the paper. There is a specific spray (highly toxic) that binds the charcoal to the paper. So the other day Miss C. took her drawing outside to spray. Just as she was about to set it on the window ledge..a bird shit right in the middle of it. If it was me at that point I would not have known what to do...laugh or cry. Needless to say when I heard the story I could not stop laughing. I told her it was "el signo" a sign from above that great things will come her way. Also she had given me permission to post this story and now laughs when we reminisce. Ciao.
