Buon giorno mi amici
The old masters have concluded that one sculpture is a compilation of 100 drawings.
I have to agree...I have been working on sculpting my friend's portrait in clay. At first
it seemed straightforward....but as one looks at all the angles it is a new drawing....add more
here...take away more there...shape...smooth...shape. Whew!!!! Not as easy as I anticipated
it to be. But I still love it.
Life in Italy is so spontaneous. I had dinner with my teacher and his beautiful family. Social
life is very important to people of all ages. Rarely do you see someone living in isolation. My
friend was hanging outside his window and recognizes a friend below....after salutations the
friend and his girlfriend are up in the apartment enjoying a glass of wine. Everyone is happy.
I have decided that red wine is a social lubricant.
Just on my way to class...just when I thought we were finished with the horse....there was more.
The plaster mould cracked on one side so yesterday I spent 2 hours repairing it with plaster. I am
becoming very proficient with the use of plaster....I think I can repair anything now. Hope you
all are enjoying the month of October and the splendid colours this fall month has to offer.
Ciao and talk to you soon.
