What happened to the nice weather!

Buon giorno mi amici

I am beginning to wonder what has happened to the nice May weather that Florence normally has.  I understand Toronto is having its bout of cold weather as well.  Despite the weather the mosquitos are finally out in full form.  I have only killed one and it was an interesting termination.  I used the battery operated tennis racquet I have and it is quite effective in demonstrating mini explosion.  I reasoned with the insect and gave it a fair chance.  Tonight is chicken ciaccatore with cormeal squares covered in delicious cheese.  Not much has happened since my guests left on Monday.  I went to see the new movie Robin Hood...interesting movie with a new twist...lots of action and great ending...I see Robin Hood 2 in the horizon.  Besides I like Russel Crowe and he exceeded my expectations of his role.

I learned last night...over a glass of wine with some school chums...that if you are being robbed at an ATM machine all you do is enter your pin number backwards and it sets off an internal alarm and the police come right away.  I started to laugh at the thought of how quickly the Italian polizia would arrive.  Maybe in a day or two at the most.  All joking set aside...pick pocketing is alive and well in Florence and it would be the least likely of pedestrians that you would expect.  My friend almost got her wallet taken out of her handbag had she not turned around to notice the bag was open and how interesting to watch this couple arm in arm come around us...cross the street...pretend they were window shopping ... and then drift quickly around the corner.

We have been getting a tremendous amount of rain here.  I had put out laundry to dry inside on Tuesday and the items are still damp.  So just for fun I will count how many days it will take to be totally dry.  The other day I went to cut some parsley from my herb garden only to come to the realization...thanks to my guests from Canada...that my parsley was actually celery.  I wondered why it was growing so quickly and so tall. :)  Till the next time.....ciao!

p.s.  for those of you who have access to my facebook...please visit my photo album of the school art show.
