Well twice this week storekeepers have been giving me excess money. I keep buying the lotto tickets but I didn't think the windfall would be from merchants. On Saturday I went to one of my favourite butchers and bought a huge steak and some chicken....came to about 12 euros....so I gave him a 20 and he gave me change for a 50....as I walked away I thought...hmmm I don't remember giving him a 50...so I returned and in my limited Italian told him I gave him a twenty. He was so appreciative and thanked me a million times. This morning at the hardware store the lady at the cashier gave me an extra 15 euros as change and I looked at her and said non....and she realized what she was doing and we both laughed.
It is so warm here today. I bought a couple of more plants and am planting more basil. Garlic was hard to find in the market today....so I need to find some elsewhere. I am off to check out a sculpting school tonight. There are so many beautiful sculptures in this city. I want to learn how to sculpt and then bring Florence to Bancroft. I see my yard filled with Italian sculptures. :) Off to Air France to change my flights as I have decided not to come home in June. Maybe I will just stay in Italy forever.
