Happy Monday.....wow the weekend sure flew by!

Buona Sera mi amici,
Not much has really  happened since I updated you all last.  Yesterday I decided to head to Ikea for a couple of things...which inevitably turned into two bags full.  My sorella is visiting this week and I figured I needed more stuff.  The bus ride was very interesting particularly returning to the bus station.  Firstly, Ikea decided to change the bus times so I waited for 40 minutes ready to give up and then I saw it in the distance.  The driver was a young woman in her early 20's with long purple add on fingernails.  I sat in the front so I could get a better view of the drive and noticed her talking on the cell phone.  I guess the banning of cell phones in Italy hasn't occurred yet.  She would turn that bus on a dime and there were a few times I actually thought she was going to marry the curb.  Anyhow on the way  back I sat in the same spot and simply observed.  She talked non stop and you know Italians love to yell when they talk on the cell phone...it is like they are worried the person on the other end can't hear them.  Fascinating.  Then all of a sudden she is fumbling looking for something at her feet while she weaves the bus and barely makes the turnarounds...not to mention almost hitting an old man on a bicycle...then to my amazement she begins to text on her blackberry and can hardly press the keys with her long fake nails.  Unbelievable.  I must say that was one of the most scary bus rides I have taken so far in this city.  I think she has a little guardian angel sitting on her shoulder.  Well I have four more days of school and then a two week respite which I am so looking forward to.  Just heating up leftovers for dinner and then back to the drawing board.  Hope you all are having an awesome day. Ciao!

Hi Anka: cell phone use in cars is banned in Italy. You can only use phones handsfree, I am not sure about bus drivers though, I'll observe when I next there in May! I just started my fourth Bargue two weeks ago. I am doing the Belvedere Torso which is at the Vatican. Seeing your lovely photo reminded me to let you know. Enjoy your amazing experience in Bella Italia, Cheers, Mercedes (Mirella) from the Academy in Toronto :-)
