I think I need to take up sculpting

Buon Giorno and Happy Saturday!
I am feeling like I need to study sculpting.  I think that painting and sculpting go hand in hand.
After listening to a lecture on Michaelangelo yesterday I realized that he sculpted as much as he painted.  I also learned that when they restored the Sistene Chapel and revealed it again in 1992...they used chemicals that were equivalent to Easyoff oven cleaner.  Also there had been a couple of theories about the glue they found on the ceiling and whether or not Michaelangelo added the glue for effect...regardless they stripped the glue and also changed (or at least that is what has been suggested) the value and colour of the paint on the frescos.  It must be difficult to take something so old and restore it to something revived and refreshed when one was not around to see the original as he painted it.  I saw a couple of slides that provided evidence that restorers took too much off and totally changed the look of the painting.  And there were photos of restored/repainted and it did not look like the original.
Here are some sculptures that I took pics of at the Vatican.  The Belvedere torso is a popular Bargue drawing for the 4th barges.  I am doing an interesting one...yes it is a male...and you will have to stay tuned.  Create a most wonderful weekend. Ciao mi amici.

One of the most enjoyable books I 've ever read, on any topic (well, maybe second best- that Ginger Baker is one crazy) is The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone- a 'biography' on Michelangelo, something you might also enjoy given your current pursuits (it was unfortunately made into a very terrible movie with Charlton Heston too).
Keep up the enjoyment!
