I thought I would try to download a few more Rome pictures that I had taken on the weekend.
The files are large so you will most likely see them sporadically over the next little while. I am working on homework this morning so thought this would be a great time to sit and watch the downloads. :)
A little info on the Vatican....did you know that it was a separate entity from Italy..yes folks they even have their own post office. Also they had not been talking to Italy for many many years and I think it was back in the early 1900s that they regained relations with Italy again...don't quote me but I think it might have been around 1929. Anyhow I find it fascinating how much power they maintain. I remember our tour guide referring to some of the info in the book/movie Davinci Code and was confirming that the information was correct. Particularly the part where they pick a new Pope and then the bishops all gather in the Sistine Chapel...they have two kinds of materials that produce either white smoke or black smoke....the white smoke indicates to the people that the Pope has been chosen. The chapel is magnificent.
