Good morning to you all. Well I found it fitting to blast Bocelli music and I was awakened to the sounds of hammers and knocking. Trying to discern whether the noise is coming from a current renovation on my apartment building (I forgot to mention the towering scaffold outside my main door) or the auto shop next door. I was fascinated when I walked home from the bar yesterday to see inside the big double doors next to me. Inside was a miniature autobody shop. The good thing is they do not open early and I will need to get adjusted to the noise on the weekends.
It is overcast today and looks like more rain. Good plan to pack the raincoat…much prefer it to an umbrella (which I forgot). There is an umbrella here in the apartment. All is wonderful this fine morning. I had a great sleep as it is so quiet here. There is a silence code that takes into effect at 11pm. If neighbours hear loud noise they are free to call the police. Comparable to our noise restrictions at home although I have never done that to my neighbours. I am beginning to fall in love with my new space. High 12 foot ceilings and white walls typical of old Italian architecture. The apartment has much character and I decided to add to it with painting some colourful paintings and temporarily replacing the ones here. It appears that other students have rented this apartment as I have found some interesting simplistic paintings and drawings. Looks like Sunday will be a major clean day. I found this unique little frame place that had some interesting frames. I will pick up some oil paints and will create in my spare time. Quickly I will recreate the look of this space.
My next interesting experience occurred when my laptop slowly began to lose it’s juice. Probably because I stayed up till 3 in the morning trying to learn Italian. So I pulled out the converter my colleagues at work had given to me. What I discovered is that the 3 prong cord for my mac doesn’t fit into the 2 prong converter box. This experience is all about having the adventure I kept telling myself. Meanwhile, I reflected on the book, well it seemed like a book last night, that I wrote for my blog and thought how on earth will be able to charge up this computer to transfer the information. So I decided to just wait and see until I got to school. Then I found an old plug in bar…obviously from North America and also three prong but I figure I could modify it for the time being. My focus is that it will work. So far my computer is charging. After five minutes I noticed a smell coming from my new adapter. I wondered since it was new whether the smell was from the heating of the plastic. After hearing a buzzing I replaced it with an older one I had although it wasn’t a 3 prong. So what I need to find is a power bar that has 2 and 3 prongs. I don’t know if it is normal for the coverter boxes to heat up when plugged in. I will keep an eye on it however just to make sure. At the least I might blow a fuse. I am focused however on it working perfectly. My power box to my mac has a slight buzz. I wonder if that is normal. Any techies out there might want to comment. So far so good though. My computer is charging and I need to ride this one out whatever the outcome. Good thing I brought some usb memory sticks with me. I think I might at this point download what I have written so far as not to lose it. Okay memory stick not working. This is a another note to self to create my day before my feet hit the floor in the morning.
Well it is almost noon here and I need to go out into the rain and look for a phone. Till we next meet on this blog. Arriverderci!
