Buon giorno
Yesterday I ventured to the post office after school to pick up an application form (yellow/green kit) for permisso di son giorno. It is a kit that is required to send to the police department. It gives the foreigner residency and they fingerprint you in case you are bad. There is a rather large post office at the end of Via Fiesolana and the system is very similar to our passport office in Rockwood Mall. You take a number from a machine. Each letter on the machine is designated for something. So as I sat there waiting for P438 to be called I decided to update my blog. You have a choice of letters on the machine...A,E.L and P dependant on which service you want. My classmates have been telling me horror stories about how difficult this process is. Well I am focussed on it being easy breezy. I have helped people fill out forms for the last ten years so how hard can this really be? Ooops I forgot it is all in Italian. Good thing I got internet..at least I have free translation and I know I will figure it out. I seem to be learning more Italian every day. At least I can roll the r's and it sounds not too bad. On the screens above the ticket counters in the post office there are video screens. I was just reading some sort of recipe and then a Laurel and Hardy clip came on.
I am excited about going to the St. Ambrosio market on Saturday morning. I am going to stock up so I can make quick dinners and lunches. I find that there is not enough time to eat when you want to. I wish I would have brought some of those take out containers from home. God knows I have a million of them. School is quite rigorous. I have a lot of homework and the evening fly. This weekend looks like a major work weekend at home. I start my first night class tonight. It is a lecture on human anatomy. Next week I have life drawing on Friday evenings. If I can whistle through the bargues before I come back to Canada I will have the opportunity to do portrait classes on Mon and Tues evenings. The bargue I chose is a lot more difficult than I thought. It is a hand. Figures I would pick the most difficult one.
Below is a picture of my school and part of Via Fiesolana.
Sometimes when I am in a rush I usually walk right by it until I figure out I am at the corner. It is a great school. My schedule now runs about 12 hours per day. I leave the house at 8:30 and am back usually by 8:00pm. I was teasing one of my classmates today because he has already done his homework exercises and I learned that the kids who make it here are really maximizing their time well. I have set a schedule for myself too. I am up at 5:30am and work till 8:00. Then off to school and back home for lunch. Lunch is my only down time and when I most likely will answer emails and update this blog. Back to school at 2pm till 8 most nights and then from 8-11 more work till I can't look at it anymore. I just need to find time for yoga and other stuff. Right about now I could use a nap but must get going for our afternoon session. Today we are drawing a cast. This is in preparation for our model next week.
Till we meet again. Arrivederci.

Just got info about your blog, and wow, what a start Anka! I hope you don't run out of time to keep up this pace. We all envy you and the experiences you are about to have. I will live vicariously through you as I plod through my mundane day to day life,
Mike (for Pat, Tania and Zenia)
How wonderful to hear your experiences. You are a terrific writer.....there might be a book in this! I shared the " men in mustard coloured pants " with my colleague Mandy ( who went to Paris with me) - and our tour guide EVERYDAY wore those same pants everyday.
I could almost smell the pizza and taste the risotto. I look forward to checking out your writings each day. Thank you.
can't wait for your next entry
