My favourite shops are closed on the weekends.

Buona sera

I have just discovered that my favourite shops are closed on the weekends.  That would be the art store and the hardware store.  I desperately need a kitchen knife that will help me dissect the last chicken left at the supermarket.  I am missing Hy's season salt.  I bought another spice that kind of looked like it and generously sprinkled my chicken until it was covered.  The first bite gave me a shock...the label read aglio and peperoncino...it should have read aglio (which is garlic) and FIRE!

Today I went to the 99 cent store again.  I am becoming a 99 cent store junkie...this new one I found had better stuff.  I also went into a unique dress store that was set into the building.  I think it was called Ecco
I'll have to recheck.  Anyhow there was a rack of books and in a corner I found a copy of the English paper called Florentine that is design for English speaking foreigner.  It is full of information on what is new and what new shows there are.  As well it has some websites for people to connect and share experiences.  Another source of information in a language I comprehend.  I also bought a book called "If they are roses...the Italian way with words" by Linda Falcone.  It is a comedy and reflects her experiences in Italy as a journalist working for a newspaper.  Quite entertaining actually.  Anyhow Linda kept me company while eating lunch at Mammamia.

After walking around amiously for a bit this afternoon I finally landed at the river.  I always know where I am when I am at the river because I cross it everyday...the bridge before the Ponte Vecchio.  Anyhow I was at the Uffizzi and was torn as to whether to go in or go home and clean.  I have so much decluttering to do I opted to go home.  I will visit the museum next Sunday as a reward for diligently doing my homework.  When I was here last I took a picture of the sculpture that was at the entrance way.  It looked like a large red can and had two roughly sculpted people on either side pushing it.  I have a poster of it in my office at work.  Well since then the sculpture has changed and now it is a face with horns of a ram.  Fascinating to me.  I instantly connected with this sculpture.  Hope you have had a great weekend.  Ci si vede!
