Saturday night and the city is a buzzing.

But I am very happy snuggled on my sofa writing to you.  Tonight was an interesting one because no matter where I turned I could not find the right streets.  The more I walked the hungrier I got and I decided I am not going to eat pizza tonight.  I think I walked a marathon today.  Thank goodness I brought my good sneakers.  I stopped in to get some brie and crackers and some fresh milk for tomorrow’s coffee.  I understand that most shops are closed on Sundays as the locals wish to honour Sunday as a day of rest.  Me…well let me tell you I am going to try to master those streets tomorrow.  I know there is one place that might be open and it is where I met Susan, the internet lady from America, and it is where I forgot my favourite map, the one with the plastic coating.  So I ended up stopping at a kiosk and this wonderful east Indian man, who could speak English, sold me a map.  As it turns out I was right down the street.  Go figure.  My feet ached and my stomach growled as I made the last few cobblestones to my abode.   I am smart to take a flashlight as I don’t think I would find the lock, but then again I have demonstrated some pretty neat focus moments so I should not even worry about that anymore.

Safely in my apartment I had decided not to go to dinner down the road as originally planned, rather crack open a great bottle of red and prepare some cheese and crackers.   Today was a good day.  Finally got a phone and connected with family.  I visited a posh internet place, leave it to me to find luxury, and they gave me a giant screen MAC to use.  It did everything  I wanted it to do.  I decided to see if there was anyone on Skype and low and behold my friend B. was.  It was so exciting to talk to her and we just giggled the whole time.  I never thought I would see the day where computers had advanced to that point.  It is wonderful because you don’t seem that far away and you can see them through the camera.  I love it.

I am currently having a debate with myself to determine whether I want to invest 120 euros plus 50 euros per month on having internet at home.  Although there is no privacy when skyping in the internet places, you still have the convenience of access to internet for relatively cheap prices.  This great place I found called Toscanet on Via Faenza provides a discount for students and the lovely man behind the counter did not even ask for a student card.  I will produce one to him if I get one as he was so gracious.  This internet place is so much better than what I was using as the other one was always filled with men and not Italian.  This one is different and seems more upscale.   I imagine it is busier in the tourist season.  So I need to think about that because if I write my blog and save it on a usb disc, I am able to download it at this one place for less than a cup of coffee.  And I can always walk up to that local bar where I once had free internet wifi for a day and see if it’ll work again.  I may just go there tomorrow for a bit and see.  If it doesn’t then I will pass on that bar place as their chairs are steel and uncomfortable on the tush.

Tomorrow is clean day.  I forgot to buy a mop and some rubber gloves.  I will try to see what is open if anything tomorrow.  I know the tourists will be out.  Maybe I will save the floors for next week and just do a major dust/wash clean.  My apartment is relatively clean compared to the normal standard, however, I will give it some of my own TLC.  I wish you all buona sera and see you again soon.  Caio!
